September 29th - October 5th
After a brief pause, we are happy to restart our 'This Week in BigBinary Academy' series on Substack. Here's an update from the last month.
JavaScript Course Update
We’ve continued adding more lessons to the new chapter on Canvas in our JavaScript course. You can check out the chapter here, which will help you create all the basic shapes.
We have also introduced a new Calculator project, where you will build a calculator with basic functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
This project sharpens your skills in DOM manipulation, JavaScript logic, and CSS design. Take a look!
Additionally, we noticed that we missed a challenge that tested learners on both DOM manipulation and the other JavaScript concepts learned till then like array methods or conditionals. We have fixed it now and have added 2 new challenges.
We’ve also added a lesson and challenge for the following concepts:

CSS Course Updates
We’ve improved the lesson and the challenge on the align-items property of Flexbox to provide better clarity on the main and cross axes.
Added three new Batches
We have recently added three new batches of students from MGM College of Engineering, Nanded, IIIT Kottayam and IIIT Bhubaneswar to the workshop. We welcome all the 155 learners who are joining the BigBinary Academy Workshop. They would be spending an hour daily working on BigBinary Academy. We look forward to working with them.
Student Highlight
Akshada Zinzurade is a final-year student of Computer Science at the MGM College of Engineering, Nanded. She has been covering BigBinary Academy for an hour daily for a while now and she recently transitioned to our Automation Engineering Orientation Program. She has been consistent and we are happy to have her with us.
She is currently working on our Learn JavaScript course and you should check out the Battleship Game Project she built.
If you want to build the same project, here is a step-by-step explanation.
Community Feedback
Saurabh Pawar pointed out that the instructions for the second and third tasks in a CSS assessment were unclear. We've updated the assessment. Aman Kumar pointed out some ambiguity in how the challenge for the callback functions should be answered. We’ve updated the challenge. Take a look! Thank you for your feedback!
